Amazon US: Lower shipping rates for lower-priced items

Starting August 29, Amazon Logistics in the United States will introduce lower Amazon logistics rates for all items priced below $10. Any eligible item will automatically be eligible for the lower rate and will not be affected by the 2023 peak holiday delivery fee (applicable from October 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024).

With this change in logistics policy, Amazon Logistics USA closed its light goods program in the United States on August 29, the day the new Amazon Logistics rates for low-priced items went into effect. Until then, goods already registered for the Light Commodity Program will continue to be subject to the Light Commodity Program rate (after July 17, the U.S. Light Commodity Program has stopped accepting new product registrations).

Amazon said the goal of ending the Light items program and lowering standard Amazon logistics fees for all low-priced items is to make it easier for more sellers. All items priced under $10 are eligible for lower Amazon shipping fees. Sellers can enjoy lower logistics costs for low-priced goods without having to participate in the light Goods program, which in turn allows sellers to offer more low-priced goods to buyers.

The changes mentioned above apply only to Mall of America's Light goods program. Amazon Europe will close its light goods program on September 26, when the new low Amazon logistics rates go into effect. Until then, goods registered under the Light Commodity Scheme will continue to be subject to the Light Commodity Scheme rate.
